Lucy H Smith is a freelance illustrator from Cornwall, she graduated from Falmouth University with a BA (Hons) in Illustration in 2019.
In her final year of university she won a book cover design competition for The Bras and the Bees, which was then published by Scryfa Books. Since then she has illustrated for a range of book covers for independent publishers, including 2 anthologies for Cornwall Writers, and multiple covers for Hermitage Press.
Inspired by her love for nature and childhood, she pairs traditional media with digital design to create beautiful, contemporary artwork for publishing, with a particular focus on children’s middle grade covers.
Lucy’s illustration style best lends itself to children’s and YA publishing (specifically early readers, middle grade and YA books).
Her combination of traditional media and digital design also makes it ideal for decorative covers for gift books, such as poetry, anthologies and non-fiction.
